MTR (MAVALLI TIFFIN ROOMS)
MTR (MAVALLI TIFFIN ROOMS)
MTR (Mavalli Tiffin Rooms) feels like stepping back in
time. It’s been around since the late 1920s, and you can just
feel the history the moment you enter. The walls are filled with old
photos — they don’t just decorate the place, they actually tell
stories. You’ll see pictures from over a century ago, even from the time of the
World Wars and India’s Independence.
There are black-and-white photos of the founders, old
menus, and shots of how the kitchen used to look — it’s like flipping through a
living history book, but on the walls.
And the vibe It’s still got that authentic, old-school South Indian
feel. Think wooden chairs, marble tables, brass plates,
and staff in traditional uniforms. They’ve really kept the
original charm alive — it’s not just about the food, it’s about experiencing a
piece of Bangalore’s heritage.
most unique things
about MTR is how seriously they take cleanliness.
You’ll actually see them sterilizing cups and plates
right in front of you — it’s not hidden away. Everything’s done out in the
open, thanks to their open kitchen setup,
so you can watch your food being made and see how spotless everything is. It
gives you a lot of confidence in what you’re eating
